NEXT ARE FIRST TO SIGN-UP TO NEW FOSSE PARK GETTING TO WORK SCHEME
Getting to Work is a new scheme launched at Fosse Park to help the estimated 1,500 staff based there to commute more sustainably. On Monday 12th April, Next opened their new concept store at Fosse Park and are now the first retailer to pledge their commitment to Getting to Work. The program provides free access to a range of initiatives to help with travel to work, including discounted travel, free bus tickets, showers and changing facilities, and the loaning of electric bikes. It also enables staff to obtain a wealth of local transport information and maps to help ensure using sustainable transport is as easy as possible. Getting to Work is being developed and coordinated on behalf of Fosse Park by local sustainable transport consultancy, Go Travel Solutions.
Sarah McAlinden, Travel2Next Facilities Coordinator, said “Getting to Work is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to promotion of sustainable travel for the commute and to help staff with walking, cycling and using public transport.” She added “Next Plc was the first organisation nationally to achieve a Gold STARS Business Accreditation with Modeshift in 2017 for our Head Office. We are now cascading this approach across all our stores and distribution centres. Being part of the Getting to Work scheme at Fosse Park helps us in achieving this ambition and make an even greater positive impact through more sustainable commuting.”
Robin Pointon, Managing Director and Founder at Go Travel Solutions, said “The Getting to Work program offers so many benefits to retailers and their staff. For employers it provides staff with travel savings, it reduces parking demand, supports health and well-being, whilst delivering reductions in carbon. What is there not to like?”. He added “As part of the Getting to Work scheme we will be promoting and developing a range of new initiatives, to help make buses, bikes and walking be the default for Fosse Park commuters. “
Adrian Young, Centre Manager at Fosse Park said “I am delighted that Next have become the first retailer at Fosse Park to sign up to our sustainable getting to work pledge. Staff at Next will now be able to access a raft of benefits and individual tailored travel plans which will help them make sustainable choices in how they get to work. We look forward to more of our Fosse Park retailers joining this innovative sustainable travel initiative”.
